Dissatisfaction with reductionist theories of the conscious mind has grown in contemporary philosophy of mind. This article explores a non- reductionist theory that has recently taken center stage in the debate: panpsychism. It shows that, despite its initial implausibility, panpsychism is, on a theoretical level, simple and elegant, and on a practical level, by reconfiguring the relationship between mind, brain and environment, it can suggest new ethical attitudes towards the environment itself.

Abstract
Dissatisfaction with reductionist theories of the conscious mind has grown in contemporary philosophy of mind. This article explores a non- reductionist theory that has recently taken center stage in the debate: panpsychism. It shows that, despite its initial implausibility, panpsychism is, on a theoretical level, simple and elegant, and on a practical level, by reconfiguring the relationship between mind, brain and environment, it can suggest new ethical attitudes towards the environment itself.File in questo prodotto:
