This contribution examines the concept of risk as defined by the IPCC, applying it to the case of the flood retention basins in the Grave di Ciano. Starting from the distinction between human and ecological systems and the cause-effect circularity of risk, it highlights how the anthropocentric design approach tends to marginalize the ecological system's importance. The text emphasizes the missed opportunity to adopt participatory tools like the River Contract, favoring emergency interventions that risk compromising ecosystems and related services. The discussion focuses on the conflict of values and objectives among various stakeholders, identifying the dangers of technocratic and non-inclusive solutions. Finally, the contribution underscores the need for integrated and multidisciplinary strategies for risk management, balancing technical, ecological, cultural, and social aspects, and avoiding the creation of new vulnerabilities in the future.

Abstract
Finally, the contribution underscores the need for integrated and multidisciplinary strategies for risk management, balancing technical, ecological, cultural, and social aspects, and avoiding the creation of new vulnerabilities in the future.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
